Make an Impact
Volunteer for an International Service Project
Part of every trip is dedicated to working on a service project that increases access to clean water, education, and health services in an under-served village. By focusing on these areas, you help the community establish a basic foundation that empowers them to broaden their own horizons for more success.
When volunteering in the village, you will experience firsthand what it’s like to live in the locals’ shoes. Every day on the project you will spend quality time with the community and its children. You will work together, break bread, and share laughter, all helping form a special bond. As for work, you’ll be asked to take the initiative, share your expertise, and get your hands dirty. Altogether, you will be challenged emotionally and physically. When you overcome these challenges, you will help complete the project and create sustainable impact for the people in need.
In return, your life too will be impacted, forever.
An area of focus for group service projects is helping a village increase access to clean water. This comes through the group efforts of installing latrines, improving schools’ underdeveloped plumbing systems, and funding water wells.
Water is a fundamental human need. Each person requires at least 20 to 50 liters of clean, safe water a day for drinking, cooking, and simply keeping themselves clean. Though, this fundamental need is scarce in several areas throughout the world. Globally, 884 million people live without easy access to clean water and 2.4 billion lack access to improved sanitation facilities. To put into perspective, 1 in 3 people don’t have a decent toilet of their own and 1 in 9 people don’t have clean water easily accessible.

An area of focus for group service projects is helping communities increase access to education. This comes through the group efforts of renovating underdeveloped schools and increasing supplies to the students.
More than 72 million children around the world are denied their right to education. This denial is one of the surest ways of transmitting poverty from generation to generation. Every girl and every boy should have the right to a quality education so that they can have more chances in life, including employment opportunities and better health. Education reduces poverty, boosts economic growth and increases income. It increases a person’s chances of having a healthy life, reduces maternal deaths, and combats diseases such as HIV and AIDS.
An area of focus for group service projects is helping a village increase access to health services. This comes through the group efforts of renovating underdeveloped health centers, increasing medical supplies, and improving access to clean water.
Over a third of hospitals and clinics in developing countries have nowhere for staff or patients to wash with soap, and almost 40 percent have no source of water. Every year a half a million babies die before they reach a month old due to a lack of clean water and safe sanitation. These health centers lack sufficient medicine and medical supplies, are understaffed, and don’t meet the sanitary needs to keep patients safe.
